The Road to Hana, Capisce? Restaurant

In Maui there is a little town called Hana.  There is also a road to Hana.  (shocker) Along the road to Hana is some beautiful Hawaiian "countryside" complete with waterfalls, jungle, lava tubes, etc.  We traveled the road to Hana and enjoyed pretty much every minute of it.  The landscapes were astounding and it was really cool to get to see so much of what you see in the movies in real life.

At the beginning of the Road to Hana a guy that runs a bird conservatory was letting people take pictures with his parrots. (He sounds every bit as nuts as he actually was...probably less so)  Andrew was all excited to take pictures... I was not.  That mean man put a parrot on me.  Not ok.  Whatever though, the pictures don't show how totally freaked out I was.

Enjoy the beautiful pictures of the nature of Maui.  All of these waterfalls are right off the Road to Hana.  They were so cool to see in real life.

Towards the end of the road to Hana is a really cool black sand beach.  So this black sand is from the slow breaking down of volcanic rock and therefore the black sand is in limited supply.  (This is according to the tour book- I'm not this smart, so if you're a geologist and I'm wrong just write the Maui Revealed tour book people...)  Supposedly also the most black sand is found on Maui and the Big Island.  It was pretty weird to see it...honestly when looking at our feet and stuff after it looked more like we waded around in really thin potting soil or something.  It was an experience for sure.  Too bad it wasn't warmer the day we went or we could have really swam and enjoyed everything. It was just a little chilly and sprinkling.

After traveling the Road to Hana we went home and changed to go out to eat at a restaurant suggested to us by the concierge.  Capisce? Italian restaurant is set inside a resort about 5 minutes up the road from the Grand Wailea.  We went at 6:30 and sat down to a wonderful meal.  For an appetizer we got quail, bread and oil and vinegar.  For our meal, Andrew had steak and I had veal parmigiana.  For dessert...oh dessert... We had a sea salt caramel tart served with a light caramel flavored ice cream.  Oooooo... Ok, each and everything we had was absolutely delicious.  Amazing.  Anyway, this caramel tart was the most delicious dessert I think I could have ever eaten in my life.

Here is the original view we had from our table.

The quail we had for our appetizer. It was de-boned except for it's little arms and legs and wrapped in bacon.  Delicioso.
We forgot to take pictures of our main dishes, but here is our dessert. Yummy. Be jealous.
The view of the sunset from our table.
Us at the front of the restaurant.  The nice hostess was kind enough to take a picture for us. We're so cute!

  2. The principal advantage to eating entire developed sustenances is the normal vitality you get for the duration of the day. Before eating just crude sustenances, I would need to drink a few espresso toward the beginning of the day or I couldn't work at all and would drink a few glasses for the duration of the day pizza hut 75057
