The luau at the Grand Wailea was fantastic. They really put on a good show and had the best "luau" food I've ever had. For realsies. It was delicious.
Here is the yummy, yummy pig being taken to get cut up and put on the buffet.
The show and luau took a little break so the audience could enjoy the beautiful sunset over the water. It was great, there was just like a nice 15 minute pause where everyone could sit back and breath out. Just let the world go and relax a little bit. That was one of my favorite things about Hawaii, just letting go of all the stress of finals and graduation and moving and the wedding and just breathe in and out and enjoy.
The show was great. The performers did a good job in telling the stories and sharing the dance of their people. My personal favorite was this one that told the story of a goddess who traveled on the clouds from the volcano to a neighboring island to visit her lover, but their visits were always cut short because of the breeze that carried her back to the top of the volcano. The dancing was just beautiful and you could just feel the passion and excitement as she across the skies to see her dearest. The dance truly embodied the romantic, passionate, "Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan" love that every girl wants in her life. I loved it. It was just beautiful.
Andrew and I had a blast watching the show and listening to the folk stories. It was nice to escape for a night and get out of our own heads for a little bit.
