When we arrived in Maui we pulled up to our hotel the Grand Wailea and I was amazed. The hotel/resort is super cool. They have a beach front, a large pool which includes 10 waterslides, a lazy river, several hot tubs, an adult pool, and a synthetic "beach" which enters the pool. To sum the pool up in one word would be "swimming." Haha...Get it? Swimming? hahaha I kill myself.
Anyway, Kailee Washer, our wonderful sister in law used her sweet local connections and some of her own awesomeness to make our room perfect. Between her and the hotel we got this wonderful set up complete with tea-lights, flowers, fresh cut fruit, and chilled sparkling cider. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect room or a better hotel to spend my time in Maui.
The hotel has some gorgeous gardens that you walk through to get down to the pool and beach. Throughout the gardens are rivers and pools with some of the biggest coi fish I have ever seen. They were visible very clearly from our 9th floor hotel lanai. Crazy big. There were also beautiful statues and everything really captured the essence and spirit of Hawaii and the laid back feeling of the islands.
During our stay we went kayaking and were able to swim with the sea turtles. I think that was definitely our favorite experience. So cool. I don't like snorkeling at all, while Andrew loves it. The sea turtles though are so wonderfully graceful and elegant that I loved seeing them glide through the water. Andrew and I got to bond over the sea turtles and spending time kayaking over the most astoundingly indigo blue water. Good times.
We also went on a sail boat snorkeling tour, on a helicopter tour of the island, on a sunset cruise, drove the road to Hana, went wading on a black sand beach, and swam at the resort beach and pools and at Big Beach. Another of the highlights was attending the resort luau.
